PENFOLDS BIN 2 2007

The Grade: OUTSTANDING. The Mojo: The Penfolds Bin 2 Shiraz Mourvedre 2007 is a wonderful blend of 75% Shiraz and 25% Mourvedre that is considered by the winemakers at Penfolds to be one of their best ever Bin 2’s. Really ripe and fairly complex for a wine of this price point, with hints of fresh blueberries, rhubarb, and fig, along with notes of black olives and smoked meat in the nose, continuing with the olive tapenade, figs, blackberry and boysenberry flavors. The nuance of aging in French and American oak for 12 months comes through, lending well to the long-lasting finish. I am really impressed with this wine.
